Whether you fancy a sleep in or the morning simply got away from you, in today’s post I’ll be sharing my 8-minute hair and makeup routine. Yes, people, you read that right hair & makeup!
Being a Mum of 2 I need to have my quick beauty routine down pat. Recently, while rushing to get to a morning appointment it hit me, I’m sure there are lots of you guys who would love to be let in on a secret or two when it comes to saving some time getting ready in the mornings. Now, this isn’t a full face tutorial, please we have 8 minutes for hair and makeup, but this will get you looking fresh, awake and ready to take on the day. So let’s go.
8 Minute Makeup Routine
Starting with a freshly washing and moisturised face, I will take my best friend AKA Clear Eyes and pop a couple of drops into each eye just to take away any redness or evidence of a late night the night before.
Next, I take the Mecca Max Life Proof Cream Concealer and apply it under my eyes, around the nose and to any blemishes I have. What I love most about this concealer is that it’s thin in consistency but manages to cover everything and also doesn’t crease under my eyes which is awesome.
You guys will probably know that I have been showing the Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminiser a lot of love recently and I’m still not ready to stop. This product has been a heaven sent for my skin. I love that it’s so versatile and looks great alone or paired with other makeup products. I like to add a touch of this to the highpoints of my face and inner corner of my eyes and blend in using my fingers.
My brows have been tattooed but I still like to go in and fill in a couple my areas where the ink never seems to have faded and to also make them a little bolder. I love using a fine tip brow pencil for this and using a soft hand I begin feathering the product and try to mimic extra hairs. Some of my favourites would be the NYX Micro Brow Pencil, Garbo & Kelly Brow Perfection Pencil and the Jane Iredale Dale Retractable Brow Pencil If you naturally have bold brows you could swap out the brow pencil for a tinted brow gel.
Depending on how I feel, mascara is something I can give or take. If I don’t wear mascara I will usually just curl my lashes using a lash curler.
I will then finish off the look with a lip balm or gloss. One of my favourites is the *Intense Lip Plumper by Code Beautiful this gives my lips a pretty pink shade and is also one of those tingling formulas that makes them look a little fuller.
With my hair I usually like to keep it simple and back in a clip, but if I am looking for something different I will always go for a braid. I’ve been braiding my own hair since I was a kid and love how it can transform my hair and really make it look like I’ve put in more effort than I really have. It also works great for those days when my hair is dirty because I can get a big beautiful braid without the need for a lot of hair products. If my hair is quite clean, however, some of my favourite products to use to create some texture would be dry shampoo. 2 of my favourites are the Klorane Dry Shampoo and the Fudge Dry Shampoo. My other 2 must have hair products to use for creating texture are from Oribe. The Dry Texturizing Spray really puts some grit in the hair without making it feel dry and knotty. This is a perfect product for those with short hair, but since mine is getting a little longer now I like to just add a couple of sprays to the mid-lengths and ends for some extra volume. The other product is the *Swept Up Volume Powder Spray. Again, another wonderful product for creating texture or volume but what I really love about this one is the packaging. It’s like a pump spray bottle which makes it so handy when applying to your hair. I have used volumising powders in the past but found them a little messy as the packing was always a tiny bottle that you tip onto the hair. You have to kind of guess where you were applying the product or I would put the product into my hands and then apply to my hair which I always kind of thought was a bit of a waste. But having the little nozzle there means I can get the product in the exact areas I need to.
I think that this is a great starting point to add or subtract extra products to your routine depending on you how much time you have. If you would like to see this routine in action check out my Instagram video here. Interested to see more posts like this one? Let me know below.
