If you couldn’t tell from my last post, I was pretty excited for the KKW Beauty Crème Contour & Highlight Kit launch. Any product for the skin whether it be skincare or makeup really gets my engine going. On the daily, I usually leave it pretty natural on the eyes however I will always contour and highlight. After seeing the sneak peeks Kim gave on social media I knew I had to have this kit.
What do you get in the KKW Beauty Créme Contour & Highlight Kit?
The kit contains doubled contour and highlight sticks, essentially 4 cream products along with the double ended blending tool. The contour stick has both a bronzer and contour shade and the highlight stick comes with a matte and shimmer side. I love the gorgeous nude colour packaging and I think it was really smart of her included a blending tool as well. It kind of makes the price tag a little more acceptable. The crayon like packaging makes it very easy for precise application. I did feel though, I needed to be very gentle when applying as the stick felt very flimsy in the packaging and if it was wound up too much I feel like it would actually snap off.
How to use the KKW Beauty Créme Contour & Highlight Kit.
Upon applying the product I noticed the consistency to be very waxy and it felt heavy on the skin. It was easy to blend with my a brush and sponge but I felt I got the best colour pay off wth my fingers. As you can see in the demo I use these just I would any other contouring products. I place the contour shades along my forehead, under the cheekbones, nose and jawline, I then use the matte highlight shade to clean up the cheek contour and a little on the forehead finishing off with the shimmer shade on the tops of my cheek bones. Unfortunately, when I purchased the kit the light shade was the only shade left, I actually wanted to get the medium kit and looking black now I think this one would have suited my colouring better. I really had to build up the contour to get my desired shade with this light kit. I also used these sticks to contour my eyes too. I found that they blended well with both my fingers and a brush. I think the matte highlight shade works well as a base and the pigmentation was enough to cancel out the discolouration on my lids.
When will the KKW Beauty Créme Contour & Highlight Kit be restocked?
The KKW Beauty website is advising of a restock on the 6/7/17 The kit and shipping to Australia was $85.87AUD Shipping was pretty quick about a week from the confirmation email.
If I can be honest I am a little disappointed with this kit. I mainly think this is because of the colour I got. I would like to try out the medium shade but I can’t see myself paying the price tag and also getting up at 2am to order online again. I personally don’t believe that anyone with an oily/combination skin type will enjoy this formula as even I struggled to get it to stay in place and within 2 hours I was a creasy mess. This could have been because I needed to build the product up so much though. I am not completely ruling out the KKW Beauty brand yet, this was Kim’s first launch. Hopefully, she will listen to customer feedback and make some changes. I look forward to seeing what other products she has in the works and will probably give the brand a second chance in the future.
