Product Review: Medik8 Skincare

So I’ll be turning 33 in a couple of months and I’d like to think that my skin is looking the best it’s ever been. With thanks to a couple of treatments I had done before the wedding (you can read all about that a few posts back) but what’s really helped prolong the results of those treatments and continued to give my skin all the extra loving it needs has been some amazing skincare from Medik8. There have been 2 particular standouts from me in this range that I feel need to be in everyone’s routine. Today I’ll be sharing what I’ve been using on my skin over the last 2 months.

About Medik8 Skincare:

Launched in 2009 Medik8 provide high-quality skin care tailored to all major concerns including anti-aging, acne, pigmentation etc. They pride themselves on using quality, well-researched ingredients only found in professional use skincare products.

My Medik8 Skincare Routine:

Every morning and night I have been using the Gentle Cleanse Mild Foaming Cleanser  I find that 1-2 pumps is enough to do a lovely job at removing any leftover makeup at night or to refresh my skin in the mornings. It does have a distinct clinical scent which took a little time to get used to but did a lovely job at keeping it feeling soft and hydrated.

After using the Gentle Cleanse in the morning I would follow up with the Tetra C Vitamin C Antioxidant Serum. Remember, I was telling you about the 2 standouts from the range? Well, this is one of them. This serum has been a game changer for my skin and has definitely brought it back to life. Its lightened the pigmentation I have on my cheeks and had given my skin an overall brightness. Tetra C can also improve the skin’s elasticity and density along with triggering collagen production. 5 drops are all you need to cover the face, neck and decolletage area. It feels like a very light facial oil and absorbs quickly into the skin.

My day cream has been the Hydra8 Day 360 Total Anti-Ageing Moisturiser SPF15. This product contains advanced ingredients to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I find it to be a beautiful lightly fragrant day cream that absorbed quickly and preps the skin nicely for makeup. 2 pumps was all I required for great hydration.

When using products like Retinol, your skin can become sensitive to sun exposure so the need for a broad spectrum sunscreen is essential. The Physical Sunscreen SPF30   has helped protect my skin. This is a somewhat thick product that my skin needed a couple of weeks to adjust to the formula. Once applied, it does leave a white cast on the skin for a few minutes until it absorbs but once it has it looked undetectable on the skin with or without makeup and feels weightless.

The eye cream I used both in the mornings and at night has been the well-titled Dark Circles eye cream. Like the name suggests this product is said to target all causes of dark circles, reduce puffiness, maintain hydration levels and smooth the under eye area. I’ve said in the past that I think its very unlikely an eye cream will completely get rid of dark circles and puffiness as there are so many factors which can use the annoying issue, health and family history to name a few. During my time using this product I didn’t think it was making a huge difference, however, looking at some of the before and after photos has kind of changed my mind. I definitely think that the dark circles have minimised. A little product goes a long way and I have enjoyed how well hydrated the area under my eyes has been.

Retinol 3TR is the second product my skin just can’t live without and a product that will now never leave my skincare rotation. Vitamin A is fantastic for so many issues. Essentially, it speeds up the natural peeling of dead skin cells which results in the appearance of more youthful looking skin and can also improve the appearance of dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles. This product is applied at night after cleansing. I really feel like its contributed to the overall brightness and glow my skin has had. This serum has a thicker consistency to the Tetra C more like a facial oil so it does like a little longer to absorb, I like to apply this then brush my teeth and then follow onto my night cream.

And lastly, the night cream I have been using is the Hyra8 Night Advanced Antioxidant Cream. Containing ingredients to help reverse the signs of aging, and restore a healthy radiant complexion. This is a beautifully rich and extremely hydrating product. Despite its super think consistency and like all the other product mentioned, it absorbs into the skin in minutes. I did feel that I needed to use more than I thought I would, however, to maintain that superior hydration my skin needs. I was using this product for the winter months and with the heater on 24/7  I found not using enough did leave my skin feeling a little tight in the mornings but I will be interested to see how it performs over summer.

Final thoughts on Medik8 Skincare:

I always had a feeling that I would enjoy this brand, previous to now I had heard nothing but great reports on their products. Like I mentioned at the start of this post my skin has never looked or felt better and I really believe that these products are to thank for that. However, if I could only choose 2 products from the range it would be the Tetra C and Retinol 3TR these two are definitely a must-have. I want to thank Medik8 for kindly supplying these products to trial.

I have been using Medik8 for a few years now, just mainly their PoreCleanse cleanser, with a few other of their products mixed in, but also with other random products. At the start of this year, I switched to a mainly all Medik8 line-up in my skincare and it has done wonders for my skin!! Though out of all the products you use, I only use 1 of them (the new physical sunscreen!!) and the rest are different! The Hydr8 B5 serum is amazing, and I have been using the r-Retinoate (so expenny 🙁 but worth it) with amazing results, and also the C-Tetra cream instead of the serum, but I may try the serum next after your glowing review!!

I need to try the Hydra8 B5 serum. They are expensive but if they work then I don’t mind paying it. It’s not very often you find skincare that does exactly what it claims. Thanks for reading xx

  • Oh my goodness babe your skin looks incredible. I will definitely be picking up the Teltra C for my dark pigmentation from pregnancy. I also adore the Gentle Cleanser and the pore refining toner is another I can’t live without. Xx
