Product Review: The Ordinary Serum & Coverage Foundation

Up until recently, The Ordinary Colours foundations were on the wishlist of makeup lovers everywhere but with the promise of a 21 colour shade range, a product free from water, alcohol, oil, silicon, gluten, soy, nuts and animal cruelty all while being at the mighty affordable of $12.70AUD the 25,000 people waitlist made it only too much of a dream. So you could imagine my surprise when not 1 but both formulas of this so-called wonder product landed on my doorstep. Today I’ll be sharing my thoughts on why you need to pick up this foundation.

The Ordinary Serum Foundation

This foundation gives a gorgeous natural glow to the skin. It has an extremely thin consistency but don’t let that fool you. This offers an amazing medium coverage, in both after photos for each formula I am NOT wearing concealer. I love that this product glides with ease over the skin and doesn’t sink into wrinkles or fine lines. If you love that no makeup look but require a good coverage base, this is the foundation for you. Perfect for those with a normal/dry skin type like myself. I like to apply these foundations with a brush, and then pounce a dry Beauty Blender over the top just to pick up any excess product.

The Ordinary Coverage Foundation

Like the name suggests The Ordinary state this formula contains a higher level of pigment to the Serum Foundation, therefore giving a better coverage. I personally didn’t notice much of a difference coverage wise between the two, however, I could definitely tell that this formula gives my skin a natural matte finish. Unlike the Serum Foundation, I did notice this one did crease under my eyes and around my mouth as the day wore on. This is completely normal for more of a matte formula to do on my skin though. Unfortunately the day I took the photos for this formula it was extremely bright outside hence why my skin looks rather glowy but in real life, the foundation did look a little flatter.

Items in this post were sent to me for consideration of a review. This has not persuaded my opinion of the products as always, these thoughts are my own.
  • Your skin is so beautiful and clear that in both before photos I thought you were wearing the serum foundation- literally not even joking! But with that being said I also loved the finish of both foundations on you. They both look beautiful. Can’t wait to try these for myself.

    • Oh really, thank you!! I’ve been working hard on my skin recently. The Serum foundation basically makes my skin look flawless. It’s such a quality product I still can’t get over the price.

I seriously need to try this foundation! It’s always sold out so when a product is so difficult to get I usually just procrastinate it because I hate chasing up a product. But you have definitely reignited my need to pick up this foundation! Awesome post!

    • They have most shades on the Deciem site, you should check there. It’s well worth the wait!!
